Agent-Reach Reads Six Platforms With No API Fees
A CLI promising agents read and search across six platforms with no API fees; free access on those sites usually means borrowed sessions, so read the auth code first.
About 3 stars total and +1,683 in the last day: a repository that landed all at once. Agent-Reach claims read and search access, for an AI agent, across six platforms — social feeds, a video site, a code host, and two Chinese services. The tagline reads “one CLI, zero API fees.” Nothing in the description says where that access comes from or whose login provides it.
“Zero API fees” is the load-bearing phrase. Official read access on those platforms usually costs money, needs an application and a review, or both, so a free tool is almost certainly reaching the sites the way a logged-in browser does, borrowing whatever session material it can find. For a person clicking around, that is unremarkable. For a binary, it is a stack of borrowed logins.
For an agent running unattended through hundreds of queries, it is the traffic pattern rate limits and account bans exist for. That is why I would read the auth code before I ran it. Whether the tool writes a session token to a plain-text config file, and whose account pays when it gets one wrong, decides whether this is a tool or a liability.
Six platforms behind one command is a good demo and a wide surface for credentials. I would open the auth path first, one platform at a time, and see what gets stored where. My expectation: one of the six breaks inside a month, and the fix has to come from the maintainer. That is an evening of code reading, not a dependency.
